If you’ve ever wanted to be part of something powerful, artistic, and real — this is your invitation.

The Curves Ahead Project: The Body Issue is a fine-art photography series that celebrates the raw, unfiltered beauty of plus-size bodies. Each session captures authenticity — emotion, texture, strength, and softness — in a way that’s rarely seen in mainstream art.

This project isn’t about perfection. It’s about truth. It’s about seeing yourself — curves, confidence, and all — reflected as art.

Who Can Participate

We welcome plus-size women, 18 years and older, from all walks of life — no modeling experience required. You don’t have to be a professional model to be part of this. You just need an open mind, a positive spirit, and the courage to embrace your body as it is.

Where Shoots Take Place

Most sessions take place in the DMV area (Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia), with a few upcoming opportunities in Atlanta, Georgia.
Our goal is to expand The Curves Ahead Project to more cities over time — including New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and beyond.

Upcoming fundraising efforts, including our Kickstarter campaign, will help make that travel possible and allow us to include even more participants from across the country.

What to Expect

Each shoot is conducted with the highest level of professionalism, privacy, and respect.
As your photographer, I (Mickey Leon) create a safe, comfortable environment where every participant feels confident and celebrated.

This project includes artistic and implied nude photography, but not every image will feature full nudity. To capture the lighting, movement, and emotion that define The Body Issue, participants should be comfortable being nude or topless during parts of the session — even if those areas aren’t visible in the final images.

If you prefer not to show your bare chest in the published book or exhibit, that will be fully honored.
No photographs of genital exposure will ever be taken or used. The focus is on form, shape, and artistic expression, not explicit content.

All images will receive minimal editing — no body reshaping or heavy retouching — because The Curves Ahead Project is about real beauty, real curves, and real confidence.

Participation and Selection

While not everyone who submits will be featured in this volume due to limited space, the project will continue to grow beyond the book — through our website, exhibitions, and future editions. Every story and every submission helps shape the movement.
